I hear you. And certainly a lot of people are happy with the HP Envy. The new one (Folio) seems really exciting too: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-folio-13/4505-3121_7-35096620.html That said, I'm really happy with my Dell XPS. :)

While I don't have any greater faith in Microsoft / Bing than I do in Google -Meaning that under current US law, a complete privacy change is only a boardroom decision away- I DO believe that people should be exploring the full array of options.

I agree, the JBL speakers are REALLY good. The thing runs a bit hotter than I'd like, but it's a good machine, made better by Dell's good customer service when my HDD failed, my DVD drive failed and my fan failed. (All over the course of a year). Take that how you will, but I do still like my Dell.

It's a question of where your time is best spent, as a person or organization. Do you try to convince someone to do something they've expressed no interest in? Or do you try to engage those who already show an interest in the matter being considered. And when you have information at hand, as a friend or researcher, you already have some pretty good information on who's already interested and who isn't. Even with the Waggle Dance, not all the bees watch the dance, even though there's nectar being offered. But enough do, and the dance is for them.

How interesting and well put! You're saying that it makes more sense to talk to the parts of ourselves (in our friends) that are welcoming, than to try to convince the closed-off, non-receptive parts of ourselves (in our friends) to be other than they are. This makes for increased speed of feedback, specialization, and development. ... but the "I want everyone to be friends" part of me says, "so how will we ever come together as a world if we don't try to communicate across boundaries?"

Yeah, that gets especially interesting when you look at the $3.00 ATM withdrawal fees that some of them are charging, plus the extra $2.00-$3.00 your own bank charges if you withdraw from another bank.
The best part of that is that all of this costs the banks next to nothing, and the only way that they got congress to approve these ATM's in the first place was that it was supposed to reduce the cost and increase the convenience to consumers.
It it both very funny and very sad.
